I’M SO HAPPY YOU’RE MAKING AN INTENTIONAL DECISION TO INVEST
IN YOUR MENTAL HEALTH & WELLNESS. YOU WON’T REGRET IT!

I’M SURE YOU’RE WONDERING HOW THIS “THERAPY THING” GOES,
SO HERE’S SOME ANSWERS TO SOME FAQ’S.

What’s it like to work with me?

I’m professional and ethical, ALWAYS. Our therapeutic relationship is very important to me and has been proven to be a vital factor in the therapeutic process. I’m a REAL person, so I show up as the genuine and authentic, me. I invite you to do the same. I’m warm, friendly, and bubbly, but I’m also a therapist that will call you out on your *ish* and hold you accountable for working towards your therapeutic goals. I take pride in providing a safe space and experience for us to explore, process, and work through your difficulties together.

What’s the 1st session like?

If you are like the majority of clients I’ve worked with, having never been to therapy, you too may feel nervous about the first session. Therefore, in the initial session we just talk, get to know one another, identify your reasons for entering therapy, and identify treatment goals. I’ve found that my clients have always felt relieved to be able to discuss any hang ups and fears about this process, and just chat about what has brought them to therapy, rather than being assessed right away.

What’s next ?

The initial assessment and treatment plan is completed in the following session. Then, we get to work! Most of my clients have therapy bi-monthly or monthly for a few consecutive months, and then may continue sessions periodically for mental health checkups and self-care. The duration of therapy is unique to each client. Some sessions may be lots of exploring and processing issues, some you may want to vent, in others I may provide psychoeducation. It’s all part of the process.

Are we a good match?

My ideal clients are 18 +, young adults, millennials (I get us!). Contrary to what many people think, you do not have to have a pervasive mental illness or be at rock bottom to seek therapy. Many people aren’t. I would highly recommend beginning therapy a lot sooner. My clients, for the most part are healthy working professionals. I work with my clients through difficult experiences and life transitions with the lack of self-esteem, self-worth, and self-love being the root of the issue : depression and anxiety, the break-up you feel like you can’t ever get over, your overbearing parent who just won’t let.you.live., unhealthy expectations of yourself/others, feeling stuck in life, like you’re not doing enough, or thought your life would be different from what it is, dealing with that killer – comparison,  boundary issues in relationships, self-defeating negative thoughts, poor self-care, needing a mental health check up! Any of this sound familiar?

How long will I need therapy?

It all depends. Although my clients present with similar issues, everyone is unique, therefore, treatment goals and the length of treatment is unique to each client as well. Usually for a few months, but we can work together for however long it takes! We taper off and end therapy once your presenting issues are alleviated, you have identified stressors/triggers, developed healthy coping skills, replaced unhealthy thoughts and behaviors with rational and healthy thought processes, engage in positive self-talk, have implemented regular self-care and a daily mental health regimen, have a better understanding of self and others, you are setting healthy boundaries in all relationships, and you have a healthier self-esteem, improved self-love, and practicing self-compassion.
